Public housing provides shelter to millions of Malaysians. But for many it does not feel like home.
For millions in Malaysia, public housing isn’t a sanctuary - it’s a daily test of endurance.

We call it a housing scheme, but residents call it a liveability crisis. A pressure cooker where safety, health, and basic dignity are constantly under threat.

We went to 10 Klang Valley sites and listened to 2,884 households. Their message is loud and clear: you cannot fix this with concrete and paint. You fix it with people.

Our approach
When communities lead, transformation happens.
K2K is Think City's innovative social resilience programme aimed at enhancing the liveability of public housing communities. We do not arrive with answers. We show up, listen, and build alongside the people who live there.
Uniting Communities
Residents are not beneficiaries. They are important decision makers. K2K helps communities organise collective action and hold institutions accountable through the FORKOM, their own community forum.
Activating Spaces
Corridors and lift lobbies are more than mere transit zones. K2K transforms shared and common spaces into new social spaces that promote social interaction, strengthen trust and build social cohesion.
Empowering Champions
The Leaders Are Already There. We don't import solutions - we unlock the ones already in the community. K2K identifies local leaders, equips them with real skills, and provides hands-on support as they turn daily struggles into daily victories for their neighbours and community.

REALITI
Perumahan awam menyediakan penempatan untuk jutaan rakyat Malaysia. Namun, bukan sedikit yang tidak berasa selesa dengan tempat tinggal mereka.
Bagi jutaan rakyat di Malaysia, perumahan awam bukan tempat tinggal yang memberi ketenangan, tetapi perjuangan untuk bertahan saban hari.

Ia dilihat sebagai skim perumahan, namun penduduk di situ melihatnya sebagai krisis daya huni. Umpama periuk tekanan yang hampir meledak, dengan isu-isu keselamatan, kesihatan dan maruah diri bercampur baur di dalamnya.

Kami menjalankan kajian ke 10 lokasi perumahan awam di Lembah Kelang dan mendengar luahan daripada 2,884 buah isi rumah. Mesej yang disampaikan jelas dan nyata: isu-isu ini tidak boleh diselesaikan dengan konkrit dan cat baru. Yang diperlukan ialah modal insan.

Apabila komuniti memimpin, transformasi berlaku.
K2K ialah program ketahanan sosial yang inovatif bertujuan mempertingkat daya huni komuniti-komuniti di perumahan awam. Kami bukan datang membawa jawapan. Kami datang untuk mendengar dan membina penyelesaiannya bersama-sama para penduduk yang tinggal di situ.
Menyatukan Komuniti
Para penduduk bukan sekadar penerima manfaat tetapi merekalah yang membuat keputusan. K2K membantu komuniti mengatur tindakan bersama dan memastikan tanggungjawab dilaksanakan menerusi FORKOM, forum komuniti mereka sendiri.
Mengaktifkan Ruang
Koridor dan lobi lif bukan sekadar zon transit. K2K bersama penduduktelah mengubah ruang bersama dan ruang awam menjadi ruang sosial baharu yang memupuk interaksi sosial, mengukuhkan kepercayaan dan membina kesepaduan sosial.
Memperkasa Pemimpin
Pemimpin komuniti sudah ada dalam kalangan mereka. K2K mengenal pasti pemimpin-pemimpin dalam komuniti, melengkapkan mereka dengan kemahiran penting dan memberikan sokongan langsung kepada perjuangan mereka untuk menukar cabaran harian kepada kejayaan demi komuniti.
